What is a CEX?

A centralised exchange is an online platform for buying and selling cryptocurrencies, with fiat currency or other tokens. They are centralised in nature because one institution is trusted to handle the funds and transactions.

Most commonly, a centralised exchange will require you to create an account and verify your identity, especially for withdrawing any assets.

You will also pay a transaction fee in most cases to use the exchange.
